Dr. Kim Madden is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Health Research Methods, Evidence & Impact at McMaster University. She is currently the research methodologist for the orthopaedic research programs at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Before joining St. Joe’s in 2018, she worked as a clinical trials coordinator in orthopaedic trauma at Hamilton General Hospital since 2010. Dr. Madden has published over 70 studies, including some of the largest orthopaedic trials to date in NEJM, BMJ, and the Lancet. She has extensive experience writing grant applications, designing and conducting large international randomized trials and observational studies, and biostatistics consulting. Dr. Madden completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo, her master’s and PhD in Health Research Methodology at McMaster University, and an international research term at Deventer Hospital in the Netherlands. She is currently an associate editor for Pilot and Feasibility Studies and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research journals and she teaches in the Health Research Methodology graduate program at McMaster.
